Fletcher Allen, a Vermont university hospital and medical center, serves all of
Vermont and the northern New York region. Located in Burlington, Fletcher Allen is a regional, academic healthcare center and teaching hospital in alliance with the University of Vermont.
About Fletcher Allen
Fletcher Allen is committed to being a national model for the delivery of high-quality academic health care for a rural region. Our mission is to improve the health of the people in the communities we serve by integrating patient care, education and research in a caring environment.
Through a vital partnership, Fletcher Allen, the University of Vermont College of Medicine and the College of Nursing and Health Sciences form Vermon'’s university medical center – one of just 131 such centers in the country. Together, these institutions improve our region’s quality of life with innovations in medicine and health care that arise from new knowledge and discovery.
Fletcher Allen also serves as the community hospital for approximately 160,000 residents in Chittenden and Grand Isle counties and provides primary care services at ten Vermont sites. Through our statewide Blueprint for Health project, these practices are now becoming Patient-Centered Medical Homes, providing safety nets of care for patients with chronic illness with a focus on coordinating care to prevent illness and complications.
As a regional referral center, Fletcher Allen provides advanced-level care to a population of one million people throughout Vermont and northern New York. Our medical center extends beyond our four main campuses to include more than 30 patient care sites and 100 outreach clinics, programs and services throughout the region.
An Integrated System of Care
In the constantly evolving world of health care, we have a proven track record for delivering care that is both high-quality and low-cost. We are able to do this by collaborating with other hospitals and health systems – such as through our Fletcher Allen Partners affiliation with Central Vermont Medical Center and other strong regional affiliations – building an integrated health system across Vermont and northern New York that provides a strong network of high-quality care to the people in the communities we serve.
